This rural Herefordshire project, home to this 17th century estate is a beautifully crafted space that blends sustainability with timeless elegance, using 100% reclaimed or natural materials to create a setting rich in character and environmental integrity. Every element of wastage was thoughtfully reused on site, ensuring nothing was lost and each detail contributes to the story of the landscape. Throughout the garden is an epiphany of features from the grand oak pergola perched on delicately hand carved saddle stones, a variety of individual herringbone reclaimed brick panels, to the intricately articulated almond shaped centre piece uniquely sculpted using creasing tiles. The carefully designed layout is softened by delicate pockets of planting, where gentle layers of greenery and seasonal interest weave through the hard landscaping, bringing texture, movement, and balance. The locally quarried stone which were cropped on site and utilised for all of the retaining walls and step risers within this scheme. Detailing was taken from various feature points inside the property and were brought outside; numerous bespoke lead planters, the water feature, handrails and archway were intricately crafted by the blacksmith Tony Ingerfield. New York stone was sourced and supplied for the two sets of feature radial steps, and swimming pool copings, by Steve Allard & Son who cut and dressed each stone individually. The result is a structured, refined garden that feels both welcoming and purposeful, forming an ideal backdrop for hosting, entertaining, and gathering in a tranquil setting, feeling considered, and effortlessly natural.
